Today, on the 9th Muharram, the day of Tasua. In translation from the Arabic language, "Tasua" means "the ninth." The 61th year of the Hijra, the 9th day of the month of Muharram, was the eve of the tragedy in Karbala, writes Islam.
For several days, Imam Hussein (a) and his few supporters were surrounded by an army led by Omar ibn Sad. Access to the descendants of the Prophet (s) and their associates to the water was blocked.
The enemies were determined to attack Imam Hussein (a). However, the grandson of the Prophet (s), through His Serene Highness Abbas (a), asked for some reprieve to perform the divine service. He was initially denied this request, but then the enemy agreed.
On the night of the 10th Muharramam imam invited all his companions to leave him, saying that the enemy intended to kill only him. The fires were extinguished, so that those who wished could leave the camp without hindrance. However, no one left his Imam.
On the morrow, the 10th Muharram, Imam Hussein (a) and his few supporters fell at the hands of the soldiers of Yezid and became martyrs.
After the day of Ashura, Imam Hussein (a) and his companions became martyrs, their bodies were beheaded. Heads on spears were delivered to Kufa. Then Yezid's riders galloped on their horses over decapitated bodies. After that, the army left Karbala, and the bodies remained lying on the ground.
Three days later the representatives of the Bani-Assad tribe buried their bodies. As for the body of Imam Hussein (a), according to Shiite traditions, he was buried by Imam Zeynulabidin (a). Despite the fact that he was far away and in captivity, miraculously arrived in Karbala and buried his father.
In the Shiite sources it is stated that only the undefiled can betray the innocent.
