According to the representative of the social network management, thus it was possible to minimize the number of fake news related to the elections to the Bundestag
The social network Facebook has blocked tens of thousands of fake accounts in Germany a month before the elections to the Bundestag.
This was stated by the vice-president of Facebook for public relations in Europe, Middle East and Asia Richard Allan, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
"To prevent abuse with the use of our social network, we conducted a massive removal of fake accounts. A month before the election, we removed tens of thousands of bots, "he said, noting that the social network worked together with the German authorities, in particular - the Federal Service for Information Security.
In addition, Facebook taught the deputies of the Bundestag and the candidates for the election of the German parliament to information security issues. In addition, Facebook gave the German special services information related to security issues in the context of elections to the Bundestag.
"These efforts have complicated the spread of false information during these elections, and it rarely appeared in the news section. Studies show that the number of fake news in this election was very small. We learned a lot, and we will apply the experience gained in the next elections, "Allan said.
Recall that earlier Roskomnadzor threatened to block Facebook in 2018, if its leadership refuses to comply with the local law on the localization of personal data.
