In Rosh Hashanah, on the sixth day of Creation, God created man in His image and likeness. This happened on the last day as the final and most important and valuable creation of the Most High.
The value of human life, freedoms and human rights is preached not only by religious, but also by secular ideology. Nevertheless, looking back at the past year 5777, it becomes obvious that a person and his life are depreciating, finding themselves in the center of political, economic and religious wars and adventures.
Living in a secular state, people are used to complain about rulers and other powerful people of this world, forgetting that the whole of our world really belongs to the Almighty and only in his power to decide our destiny, the destinies of our states, the fate of the world.
We also forget that every person will have to answer for his actions to the Creator - officials, presidents, and ordinary citizens.
A person is entrusted with a great responsibility as a crown of creation. The Jewish tradition says that each of us is responsible not only for his life, but for the whole world - in his way this is a "collective responsibility".
In the Talmud (Kidushin 40b) it is said that both the whole world and each person are individually judged on the basis of most acts. If more merits than sins, then man and the world are judged favorably, and, God forbid, on the contrary.
It is clear that the totality of merit in the world is made up of the merits of each individual individual. It turns out that every smallest act of a person affects the fate of the whole world. By one sin, a person can destroy the world, as stated in Ecclesiastes (9:18): "One sinner will destroy much good."
This means that first of all, each of us should start with ourselves and remember that it is he - one person, not the strengths of this world - that can make the world better.
Remember the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah - Gd was ready to pardon entire cities, find at least ten righteous people in them. Ten people who followed the commandments of the Most High and tried to make the world a better place could save entire cities!
The Most High is the true King of our world, and man, his life is His most precious creation, whose task is to correct this world (tikun olam), following His ways and relying only on Him.
Ending the year, each of us has a tendency to think about how it went through, what our achievements and omissions were. Rosh Hashanah is not just a boundary between old and new, but also a time to stop and remember the deep truths of our people.
To think how many good deeds each of us can do; that the destinies of our relatives, cities and the world depend on us. That everything good, as well as all bad things depend on us. +
Let each day of the new year 5778 each of us be attentive and merciful to our neighbor, let the new year bring the blessing of the Most High to every house and heart of every person.
