The main problem of the implementation of the Minsk agreements is that the Russian Federation simply does not intend to implement them, and no one can guarantee Ukraine that the Kremlin will keep its word.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the 14th annual forum Yalta European Strategy in Kiev, the press service of the Ukrainian leader said.
"It is the peacekeepers that can become the tool that will help to implement the road map and implement the security package. This is the most important, I think, part of the strategy for the return of Ukrainian sovereignty to the Donbas, "the head of state stressed.
According to him, the aggressor will have to pay dearly if he tries to destroy Minsk and go on the offensive.
"The meeting in New York, I hope, will not only be about defense armament, although this will greatly strengthen our defenses. We do not want to attack anyone, it's disgusting for us, "he said.
The head of state noted that he is focused on facilitating two years of work to send peacekeepers to the Donbass, which, according to Poroshenko, should be located throughout the Donbass, including control over the Ukrainian-Russian border.
"I am very pleased that the State Department supports the introduction of peacekeepers throughout the Donbass region, and our partners in Europe - the French, the British, the Germans - support this idea. And this is not because they want to see more armed people in the Donbas, "he added.
Recall, earlier today Poroshenko pointed to the fact that Ukrainians can not be captive to Putin's reluctance to comply with the Minsk agreements and leave the Donbass.
