A pilot program to integrate female soldiers into the armored corps of the Israeli army failed.
The experiment failed after two of the twelve soldiers recruited for basic training were eliminated during the process process.
As part of the pilot program, the IDF command wanted to form a tank crew of three female soldiers and one man. However, after a failed experiment, the military will check whether tanks can be manned only by women.
The army stressed that the desire to integrate women into combat units stems from a shortage of personnel and believe in the success of a new pilot project in which the tank will be manned exclusively by a female crew.
In addition, the IDF announced its intention to create another ultra-orthodox battalion, despite financial and logistical difficulties.
