The Tel Aviv Institute named after Zeyev Zhabotinsky hosted an evening of the memory of journalist Sarah Frenkel
As stated in the press release of the Jewish Agency (Sokhnut), Frenkel, a native of Israel, was for decades the voice of Soviet Jews in the Israeli press.
The head of the Sohnut Nathan Sharansky said that Sarah was the first and almost the only Western journalist who for many years, despite all the difficulties, maintained constant telephone communication with him.
Through it information was transmitted to the West, vital for the struggle of Soviet Jews for repatriation.
In welcome letters, the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, and the Speaker of the Knesset, Julius Edelstein, called Sarah Frenkel a fearless and courageous man, one of the best journalists in the 70 years of the state of Israel.
