The Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin, pardoned by the President of Azerbaijan and deported to Israel, was hospitalized at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
The blogger undergoes a series of medical checks related to his state of health. Lapshin, along with his mother, Bella Lapshina, flew from the Heydar Aliyev International Airport to Israel on a Baku-Tel Aviv flight today.
On September 11, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed an order to pardon Lapshin.
The blogger was extradited on February 7, 2017 to Azerbaijan in connection with his announcement in the international and interstate search. He was charged under articles 281.2 (public appeals directed against the state) and 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border). The decision of the Baku Court for Serious Crimes A. Lapshin was declared guilty under Article 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border) and sentenced to 3 years in prison.
