In early August, the construction of the second stage of the Trostenets Memorial began in Belarus. The new part of the memorial complex will symbolize the road to death, which in the 1940s were Jews from Belarus and Western Europe, underground and partisans, Soviet prisoners of war - all those who perished in the tract Blagovshina at the hands of the Nazis.
A stylized sculpture of suitcases, railway carriages and certain symbols of life will be installed on a stretch of road approximately 1000 meters long, which leads from Mogilev highway to 34 mass graves in the forest. It is reported that the area in the complex will become a place for conducting b-services of all faiths.
The first part of the memorial complex in Trostenz was opened by President Lukashenko on June 22, 2015. The construction of the memorial is carried out jointly with Germany. Trostenets is the fourth largest death camp in Europe. On the spot where the concentration camp was located, in 2014 the construction of a memorial was started, which unites several places of mass destruction of people. The camp was located near the village of Maly Trostenets, 10 kilometers from Minsk. The tract Blagovshchina is a place of mass shootings, here corpses were buried in pits 50 meters long. In the village of Shashkovka, the Nazis built an oven for the burning of bodies. Between Minsk and Trostents, the prisoners were transported in gas vans.
