The delegation of the Meretz party met on August 20 in Ramallah with the chairman of the Palestinian Autonomy Abu Mazen.
The meeting was attended by MK Knesset MPs Zahava Galion, Issaw Frij and the party's general secretary Moti Raz.
Zahawa Galon spoke with Abu Mazen about the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. "It's clear that I do not support Hamas and the governments it created, but I think that punishing all the people in Gaza, turning off electricity, is an illegal step. We need to find another way to get rid of Hamas without the people suffering, "- said the leader of the Meretz.
To this, Abu-Sazin replied that the PA each year transferred 1.5 billion dollars to Gaza, but after Hamas declared its independence, having created its government, we reduced our financial assistance by 25%. According to Abu Mazen, the PA may completely stop financial support to the Gaza Strip. "Hamas is trying to sever the Gaza Strip from the West Bank and this step creates political mistrust in the Palestinian leadership," said the leader of the Palestinian Authority.
