The press service of the government of Israel deprived the accreditation of the correspondent of the Qatar TV channel Al-Jazeera Elias Karram, accusing him of "active participation in the Palestinian resistance movement." The decision to seize the press card from Karram was made after the press service became aware of the interview of the journalist to Dar-al-Imam TV channel in May 2016.
Then the correspondent of Al-Jazeera called the mass media an integral part of the Palestinian resistance. According to the press office of the Israeli government, these statements call into question the ability of Karram to professionally cover the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
40-year-old Elias Karram was accredited by the press service of the Israeli government as a correspondent of Al-Jazeera in 2011. In early August, Israel's Communications Minister Ayub Kara filed a request to deprive accreditation in the country of the Qatari television channel Al-Jazeera and the closure of its offices. The Israeli authorities accuse the television station, broadcasting in Arabic and English, of inciting violence.
