

On August 10, the solemn ceremony of appointing Major-General Amikam Norkin to the post of Air Force Commander was held in the office of Lieutenant-General Gadi Eisenkot's Chief of Staff in Tel Aviv.
The ceremony was also attended by Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman. Amikam Norkin will replace Major-General Amir Eshel, who held this post for four and a half years.
Amikam Norkin was born in 1967 in Beit Shearim in the Jezreel Valley.
In 1985 he was called to the IDF. In 1987 he graduated from the courses of a fighter pilot.
In 1988 he served in the 133rd Squadron. In the mid-1990s, he was appointed deputy commander of the 133rd Squadron. In 2000, in the rank of colonel - commander of the 133rd Squadron. Then he was appointed commander of the 253rd squadron.

Since 2014, he was to be appointed chief of the Israeli Air Force headquarters.
