Qatar is looking for ways to compensate for the damage to tourism and air transportation caused by a boycott on the part of Saudi Arabia and its allies.
According to AFP, the abolition of visas for 80 countries, whose list has not yet been published, will make Qatar, according to the representative of the Ministry of Tourism, the most open country in the world. To enter Qatar, which will host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, it will be enough for citizens of these 80 countries to show their passports.
Citizens of 33 countries from this list will be able to stay in Qatar 180 days, and citizens of the remaining 47 countries - up to 30 days. The list of "visa-free countries" was, according to the Ministry of Tourism of Qatar, compiled on the basis of economic assessments and security requirements. The greatest benefit from the innovation should get the airline Qatar Airways, which plans to add to its flight list another 62 destinations.
