Jewish cemetery - historical monument of England

The facilities at the Jewish cemetery in Villesden, which is located in north-west London, is given the status of second-class historical monuments along with five other historic buildings throughout the UK.
In the United Synagogue of London, which runs the cemetery, they welcomed this decision.
The director of the organization responsible for the burial, David Kaplan said: "I am very happy that our beautiful graveyard in Villesden received this status from the Commission for Historic Buildings and Monuments of England. Many significant figures are buried in the graves of Willesden. It has a rich history that is now protected, so that we can continue to demonstrate Jewish contributions to British society for future generations. "
The commission itself stated that the cemetery buildings in Villesden are a rare example of preserved buildings in the style of the Gothic revival, popular in the late 19th century.
In the cemetery, which was opened in 1873, the only Jew was buried: the Prime Minister of New Zealand Julius Vogel, Rosalind Franklin, who participated in the research during which DNA was discovered, Lionel Rothschild, one of the first Jewish deputies of the British Parliament, Hannah Rosberi, Once the richest woman in the world, and Jack Cohen, the founder of Tesco's company.
In 2015, the United Synagogue of London received 320,000 pounds to cover the costs of restoring monuments.
