Why is Putin going to Abkhazia? - Radzikhovsky

August 8, 9-fifth anniversary of the beginning of the military conflict between Russia and Georgia, Vladimir Putin is going to visit breakaway Abkhazia.

It is very difficult to understand the meaning of this visit. After all, as a PR move - it's pretty pointless. Of course, this is such a small click on the nose of Georgia .. But it is obvious that Russia can not and will not intensify its activity in this direction. Although in fact, what kind of activity is possible there? To attack from Abkhazia to Georgia is absolutely impossible. And Abkhazians do not need it at all. Abkhazia does not seek territorial expansion against Georgia. Abkhazia - is not a "DNR", where they played all sorts of crazy like Zakharchenko and say that we will create a new state, and to swallow Ukraine. There are no such plans in Abkhazia. Their only goal is to exist separately from Georgia. Stupid is a goal or smart, but they have such a goal. And there are no more. Therefore, no expansion from Abkhazia to Georgia is possible.

Does Putin want to support Abkhazia? And why support it? She does not seem to be in such a hopeless position that she needs support. There have been conflicts, there are Russian tourists killed, the flow of tourists in Abkhazia dramatically decreased, but the Abkhaz authorities found these killers. But it is unlikely that because of this particular murder or some minor criminal offense, Putin will go to Abkhazia. He's not an investigator. Therefore, I do not see any sense in this visit either. Therefore, it is generally unclear what he was going to go there.
